So, as you may have already read, we do things slightly differently to many breeders. When we began our breeding journey, we quickly realised that the traditional way of picking a puppy on looks alone in our opinion is perhaps not always the best way to select your new pet. Let’s face it, all puppies are cute anyway aren’t they??
So we set about changing this with a concept that we call ‘Matching’. Matching is simply a way of ensuring that each puppy goes to their perfect forever home by matching the puppy’s personality to the culture of the home they’ll live in.
We ask all prospective buyers to contact us through the ‘contact us’ section and tell us about themselves…. in as much detail as possible. We’d like to know obvious stuff like whether you’d like a boy or a girl puppy, who you are, why you’d like one of our puppies, why you’ve chosen a Labrador, will your dog be a working dog or a pet…
However, we also ask that you to tell us about some really important additional things such as where you live (suburbia, countryside etc), what your home is like (quiet, manic, how many kids, other pets etc), what lifestyle you have (adventurous, hikers, relaxed etc) and finally if you have any special circumstances we can consider. We’ve become quite well known for matching puppies with families to become assistance or companion dogs for various special circumstances. Our pups have gone on to be companion dogs for some wonderful people, both adults and children, with all types of unique requirements.
Many of our puppies have become highly skilled working dogs, some have become farming dogs, some have become competing sport dogs, some are athletic sidekicks and one even joined a family actively involved with the RNLI, spending lots of their life on the sea.
There is a down side to our Matching policy though. We do ‘vet’ all enquiries really thoroughly and don’t just provide puppies to the first enquiries we get. We turn lots of people away! It is so important that our pups don’t end up in the wrong hands… we need to be sure that they will be given the best possible life with their new families.
Once you’re offered a pup, we encourage you to join a private WhatsApp group with the other new owners where we offer very regular PUPDATES with pictures and videos of the litter. We’re always on hand to answer any questions you may have on any matter from nutrition through to how to transport them home in your car. In the background we actively watch the puppies over the first 5 to 6 weeks to get a full understanding of their little personalities. It’s amazing watching them develop, whether they are the boisterous one, the mischievous one or the gentle one, these traits soon become apparent.
At 6 weeks we then match the puppies to you and your home. It’s at this point we invite you to visit us and meet your new best friend for the first time! From then on, you can visit us as often as you wish…. daily if you’d like!
Then finally, sometime around the 8 week stage we welcome you back to pick up your new buddy. You’ll leave with a puppy that is well on the way with their socialisation and exposure journey, a head start on toilet training, fully wormed, vet checked and micro-chipped. We also give you a gift pack full of little surprises plotting the early weeks of your puppy’s life.
This process may feel a little odd if you’ve never been part of this before, but we feel it’s for the best and our previous owners certainly seem to agree (see testimonials section)
